Steamer Shelikof and lighters tried unsuccessfully to get vessel off rock. last voyage or port: Uyak Bay to Karluk Viking motor ship lost Dec. 6, 1923 Sitkinak Island, S. end of Kodiak Island While crew and hunters were ashore at Kanatak on Dec. 2, gale sprang up and made it impossible to return to vessel. On Dec. 3 the anchor chain parted and ship blew out of Kanatak Harbor and went ashore on Sitkinak Island. last voyage or port: Port Wrangell Dec. 2, 1923 to Kodiak Western Starwood river steamer lost June 28, 1898 Katmai Bay, in Shelikof Strait, near Kodiak Island Lost ground tackle in storm and blew onto reef while heading north for Yukon River service.
